(poem written at Easter 2014)EmptyTombRelief

In the morning when I rise…

Well… in that morning when I rose,

The first thing I did, was to step on the crackling skull of Death.

Once that was done…

…I suddenly remembered that vinegary sponge.

Then the soldier, and the thief came to my mind.

One was other alive, the other dead, but both were well.

I friend of mine, traveller from afar, greeted me.

I made the bed. I stepped outside, it was still dark.

I really needed to start that big journey.

But just before I went, even though I was in a hurry,

I had to go and greet James, and the rest of them.

They needed to understand this.

They needed to know why this was good.

Why this is good.

Why this will always be good,

from here unto forever.
