We have had a great time at the Book Launch of Testament – Anthology of Modern Romanian Verse (bilingual edition – Daniel Ionita – Minerva 2012), at Gleebooks in Sydney. The venue was excellent, and the hosting wonderful, with Mr Tudor Bucea, from Eminescu Cultural Society being the perfect MC. Anikiko and John Maddox introduced the evening with some amazing jazz. The speakers included Romanian Consul General Floricel Mocanu, technical advisers Eva Foster and Professor Daniel Reynaud, writer Mihaela Cristescu, and principal author and translator Daniel Ionita. More folk music on verses from the volume (Daniel Reynaud) and a wonderful poetry recital by actor Tug Dumbley completed the evening.
The drinks and food were the cherry on top, so to speak… The 80-90 guests present (both Australians, and Aussies of Romanian background) had a great time. 25 of the 30 volumes allocated by Minerva Publishing house were sold on the night.
